Director of Education
Lauren Trexler grew up in Tallahassee, Florida where she was active in her youth group and attended many summers at URJ Camp Coleman. Those formative teenager years produced Lauren’s passion in Judaism and Jewish culture that eventually led her to choose a career in Jewish communal service.
Lauren attended undergraduate school at the College of Charleston in South Carolina where she earned a degree in Comparative Religious Studies. After college she worked with AmeriCorps for two years and then found her way to the great Northwest and Congregation Kol Ami.
While working at CKA her enthusiasm to learn more about Jewish texts, culture, and practices in a formal educational setting were reignited and Lauren found it was the right time to attend graduate school at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. While attending HUC-JIR Lauren spent a year in Jerusalem immersed in Israeli and Jewish culture. After her year in Israel she finished her studies at the Los Angeles campus of HUC where she was able to gain experiences working in a variety of synagogue settings, Hillel, and other Jewish non-profit organizations. Through these experiences, Lauren has been able to bridge her passions for Judaism and community service together, which also infuses her approach to education.
Lauren is thrilled to be part of the CKA family again during this exciting time of growth and change.
