Cathie Furman Bio:
I was born and raised in the Seattle area.  I met my husband Ron when we were both students at the University of Washington.  I graduated wIth a degree in nursing and masters in healthcare administration [University of Minnesota] and worked in healthcare for over 50 years until retiring at the end of 2018.  We were members of HNT for 30 plus years and during that time I served as President of the Women’s League for several years and joined the board first as a trustee representing Women’s League and then as a member of the executive committee (I don’t recall the exact years).  I stopped volunteering at the shul when my position as Chief Quality and Compliance Officer at the Health System I worked at became a 65+ hour/week job in early 2000’s.  My husband Ron’s brother (Bob) and sister (Sue Ostrer) lived in the Vancouver area, so we looked to find a home when we decided to downsize.  We bought our condo in 2012 and spent 50% of our time here until 2015 when we sold our Bellevue home and moved here full time in 2015.  We have one son who is a special ed teacher in Seattle and his husband is a social worker at Mollina.  I have been a trustee for the past year and have enjoyed getting to know the Kol Ami community.

Harvey Kale Bio:
Hello, my name is Harvey Kale and I have been a member of Congregation Kol Ami for 15 months now.  My wife Sharon and I moved to the Pacific Northwest from Southern California in January 2022. Since joining the congregation, I have been participating in services, holidays and have found a Jewish community I would be honored to serve.  I am currently on the finance committee and my wife serves on the gala committee.  I have served on boards in the past for my congregation (Temple Beth Ami) in Southern California, as Treasurer, Vice President, and President. I believe my experience will be an asset to the Congregation Kol Ami Board and I hope to serve and help the community as it grows.

Katie Playfair Bio:
Hello everyone! I’m Katie Playfair and embarrassingly, I’m missing the meeting. It’s for a good reason though – I will be in Scotland with my dad. I’m happy to have the opportunity to serve the community as a member of the board. I’m a mom to three human kids: Lyon (11), Malie (9), and Surin (4), and some canine companions. My husband, Erik, is a doctor at Vancouver Clinic and I work as a mental health therapist in private practice. Before working in healthcare, I worked in technology management consulting and finance. We live in Ridgefield and have absolutely loved our first year as members at Kol Ami and are excited to be part of the community today and in the future.
